There is nothing in it for us. In-fact, if this bill passes, they are goin got apply the unused visa numbers towards FB, and we will lose any chance of re-capture, for-ever.
I think, we have a lost cause. The sooner we accept this, the better. We simply do not have the funds, commitment and political support that the illegals enjoy. We all know where the maximum nubver of FB immigrants are from, and they represent a big block of votes, since most of them happen to have the herd mentality, due to lack of education.
We, on the other hand, are educated, well read, tax paying people, who actually think about issues and merits of a person, hence no use to politicians.

Meaning you - a legal, educated and GDP contributor shall have more a chance to those less educated with menial jobs and no real standing on ways of life in this country or a positive contribution to true development. Being positive is half the battle won.

I agree and actually this is a time wasting thread. it is good that he got this citizenship and I guess he is happy but what about others who are struggling to get a gc? and this statement really irritated me "I know, the wait time is long, but it is worth it every bit."
maybe they should make new citizens apply for passport every year and tell them to renew DL every year and after few years I will ask him if the wait was worth it ??

Thanks ak27... based on your suggestion, I have started enquiry on my case through congressman.
I also talked to second level I/O and she told me that it may be due to pending biometrics (what a relief to hear that). She didn't give me any other details so still not sure what's going (no SLUDs yet). I haven't recd any finger print notice since my first one in sep'07 so that kind of makes sense.

This is in reference to a thread about feeling depressed by retrogression or labor backlogs to stuck FBI namechecks or whatever it is that depresses you. Not criticizing anyone in particular so dont aim for me.
Yes, and a lot of people know that there are highly skilled people who are depressed and that takes a toll on employee productivity.
After all, if 90% of your time is spent on thinking about BECs and visa bulletins, imagine if that time was spent on doing the job they've hired you for.
Some employers(like Microsoft) realize this and want to do something about it. Its not just about keeping the best and brightest here in USA. Its also about keeping the morale and productivity up.
As to how to deal with this...try this.
Call your local congressman's office(Find out info about that from House.gov, with your zipcode). Get an appointment with congressman. There is an Easter recess coming up when they would be back from DC.
Then talk to him about all issues you have. Take all the material you need from the "Volunteer" menu item of this website.
Doing something about the problem is the best therapy there is. I am not saying this because I want to coax you into meeting your congressman. No. That's not the objective. But I think action is the best remedy for this problem. And there is actionable stuff to do about this. If you are suffering from terminal cancer, then you really cant do anything about that. Yet, the somehow managed to walk into the building where laws of this country are made, talk to people who make the laws that they have broken, go thru Capitol Hill security check, and look into the eye of the lawmaker and talk to them.
However, our community, this is how they behave. Forget about talking to congressman, or contributing money. When they call the core group with a question, they block the caller id can call. Dont disclose their name too. Ask a questions and then quickely hang up. Some of them want to contribute with cash because they are not willing to believe us that we are doing everything legal here and its their right to lobbying and petition the Government for problems.
After paying taxes, after following all immigration laws, after getting all the education in the world to become "Highly skilled", the highly skilled cant bring themselves to stand-up with a straight spine, thump their desk and talk to their lawmaker.

This is how I used my EAD. I filed 485/EAD/AP in July 2007. I did not do anything till Feb-2008. I made a call to my employer in Feb-2008 (6 months after I-485) and asked him to give me a raise. He was aware of the fact that I can use AC-21 and leave anytime. We renegotiated everything, this time heavily in my favor (for a change). I got 20% salary hike effective from that very day. I kept same employer, same job, same client but used EAD and AC-21 to put pressure on my employer. Needless to say, in the past, I have been on the receiving side of the pressure from employers because of H1-B too.
My suggestion - You can not play safe your whole life.
After an extensive research on internet about all this I will expose my case to hear your opinion.

My current attorney wont give me any advices because she says is against the law because she represents my employer and me so she recomends to look for another attorney.
Since I have an EAD my wife was able to work and things turned better but this year with the economic situation and a baby I'm about 5k short and I'm being very careful and looking for a wild card just in case.. Someone told me I can get another H1B and start over even If I have passed the 6 years of H1B.
Any thoughts?

Exactly same thing is going on with me, getting a soft LUD almost every day! (to be precise three times since they received my RFE response). Not sure what's going on?
Ok here is my experience,
had a hard LUD and received RFE for 325A and birth certificates,
Replied to RFE - USCIS received the mail on the 8th, same day in the evening, received a hard LUD saying, RFE response received and is under process.
Till today, I have been seeing soft LUD on our case, I dont know what is going on !!!

What if they start screening EAD or GC guys and decide applications on the fact that at one point of time one has not maintained this rule and start denying.
I dont think one would get any lead time to figure this out. if they(USCIS) decide to do so, Example is where the H1's were turned back at newark airport(Did they get any lead time. i dont think so)
So the better thing is to understand first what the exact implications of this memo are and act now peace fully. atleast call ,send emails or some thing similar .

Can i know why you were called for personal interview. Is your I-485 Based on future Employment or did u have an Arrest record. If You have a record it might take a while to get your back ground check.

No questions related to job..more about my spouse AOS..officer told me visa is granted and it is almost 1 week and no change in passport status on vfs site. I am bit worried..i will call consulate tonight..

Its not purely education that will get you H1 or GC. You also need to be skilled in your field.
You might look down on certain universities or degrees but in the end employers care more about skill and experience and so does USCIS

You can console yourself with the word 'skill' and all that computer jargon The bottomline is H1B visa is for professionals. However, in the past few years, Indian IT bodyshops have sent underskilled computer operators to the US to enhance their operating margins. This will come to end very soon and has to come to an end very soon. I think the process has already begun. Number of H1b visas rejected at Indian bodyshops have gone up. Operating margins at Infosys has shrunk significantly. Infosys and other bodyshops have seen stock price plummet drastically.
Companies such as Congizant have stopped bringing people from India on H1. Rather they are trying to hire people in the US who already have H1B visas. The illegals who have gotton their H1B from shady consultants in NJ, CA and elsewhere. Congizant is doing community service by legalizing illegals. The people who sat on the bench during recession while holding their H1B visas without a paycheck. Sorry with paycheck which needs to be refunded to the employer by personal check. Stop the fraud, please stop the fraud.
