Kenny Dalglish is waiting to learn the extent of the injury setback that Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard suffered in training.
Gerrard underwent groin surgery in March, but was back in training last week and hoped to feature in Saturday's game at West Bromwich Albion.
However, the midfielder was hurt in the build-up to the game and Dalglish is unsure how bad the latest injury is.
"Steven was training [on Friday] and innocuously tried to turn with the ball and felt a sharp pain," said Dalglish.
"It is the same area of the groin but not the same thing.
"We'll get him assessed and by the end of the week we'll know better about everybody."
