Javier Hernandez is prepared to be patient in his pursuit of a regular starting berth at Manchester United.
The Mexican has settled quickly in English football, having only completed a switch to Old Trafford last summer.
At 22 years of age it was expected that he would take longer to find his feet, but he is now considered to be an integral member of the first team. His route to the United side is currently blocked by Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov, but he continues to give Sir Alex Ferguson plenty of timely reminders as to what he has to offer.
A two-goal haul in Saturday's 4-0 victory over Wigan helped to underline his value to the side, but Hernandez insists he is in no rush to become a mainstay in the starting XI.
He told The Sun: "I have no problems being on the bench. I understand that football is a team sport, not like golf or tennis.
"So you have to help your team when you play from the beginning but also when you come on from the bench.
"We are like pieces of a jigsaw and the boss decides how to use us.
"If Ferguson picks me for the starting line-up, that would be great but if not, that's fine too."
