Benzema has revealed he couldn't bring himself to celebrate his goal

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has revealed he couldn't bring himself to celebrate his goal against his former side Lyon on Tuesday.

The Frenchman faced the club where he spent five years with and appeared to be the match-winner when he scored the opening goal just after the hour mark.
But Bafetimbi Gomis spoiled Benzema's day out as he scored a late equalizer to set up an enticing return leg of the Champions League last 16 tie at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Reflecting on his goal and the match as a whole, Benzema expressed his delight but admitted there was no way he could have celebrated.
"My goal was important and made me very happy," the striker told the club's official website after the match. "I was very happy in Lyon and I couldn't celebrate the strike.
"All my team-mates hugged me because the goal gave us the advantage in the tie.
"I am working to play more. The coach gave me 27 minutes of playing time and I responded on the pitch," he concluded.
The return leg will be held on 16 March.
